The project is coterminous with a 50-year ground lease for the company's Fort Stewart/Hunter family housing project. The project will begin with a two-year development period that will include design, construction, management, maintenance and operational responsibilities.
GHM is currently responsible for the development and management of the family housing for the Fort Stewart/Hunter Army Airfield Project, which includes 3,700 units. "This is our first unaccompanied personnel housing award," says GMH Military Housing president Bruce Robinson, in a prepared statement. "We are optimistic that this could be the first of many opportunities to provide improved housing to Army single soldiers."
GMH also operates 12 military housing privatization projects covering family housing and is in exclusive negotiations for an additional three family housing projects. The company has partnered with the Army on privatization projects at Walter Reed Army Medical Center, in Washington, DC; Fort Detrick, Frederick, MD; Fort Hamilton, Brooklyn, NY; Fort Carson, Colorado Springs; Fort Gordon, Augusta, GA; Carlisle Barracks, Carlisle, PA; Picatinny Arsenal, Dover, NJ; Fort Eustis, Newport News, VA; Fort Story, Virginia Beach, VA; Fort Bliss, El Paso; and White Sands Missile Range, Las Cruces, NM.
