Mackenzie Keck, the Hackettstown-based general contractor, has acquired the green building consulting firm Global Thinking LLC, formerly based in Philadelphia. Under MK's aegis, Global Thinking is being led by noted green building consultant and architect Frank Sherman, who has also been appointed vice president of the parent firm. Sherman is on the board of directors of the U.S. Green Building Council.
As part of MK, Global Thinking will focus on energy-efficient design and construction, including selection of materials and finishes that "create healthy indoor air quality," Sherman says. Also part of the plan are the assessment of existing buildings for adaptive reuse. Current projects include consulting for a number of retailers and residential developments. The company is also "greening" MK's new under-construction headquarters.
"With the addition of Global Thinking, green building is clearly becoming a major focus of what we do each day," says Dan Keck, MK founder and CEO.
