Two other retailers have now been added to the mix. Heidi's Brooklyn Deli and Sister's Pizza & Mussels are scheduled to open in April of 2008 in that building, which is just outside the New York Avenue Metro station at 2nd and N Street, N.E. Heidi's and Sister's, both of which were founded by Denver-based Steve Naples, will occupy a total of 2,940 sf.

Capital Retail Group and LeDroit Park Development Co. are leasing the building, which was constructed by the US General Services Administration. While the actual square footage under contract is relatively small, the leases are of symbolic importance to NoMa, which wants to position itself as more than just an office destination. "We are excited about the new retail amenities coming to NoMa that will serve thousands of office workers as well as nearby residents," Elizabeth Price, president of the NoMa Business Improvement District, says. "With 50,000 sf of retail space under construction and another 140,000 sf starting this year, there will be many more retail announcements in the coming months."
