WASHINGTON, DC-NoMa is continuing to attract retailers to the submarket, complementing the office investments there and providing amenities that will allow this part of town to become a true live-work-play neighborhood. Earlier this month the first tenant announced it would move into the ancillary 8,000-sf building to the US Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives headquarters: local entrepreneur and Washington native Khalil Ghannan, who plans to open Pound Coffee there in the first quarter of 2008.

Two other retailers have now been added to the mix. Heidi’s Brooklyn Deli and Sister’s Pizza & Mussels are scheduled to open in April of 2008 in that building, which is just outside the New York Avenue Metro station at 2nd and N Street, N.E. Heidi’s and Sister’s, both of which were founded by Denver-based Steve Naples, will occupy a total of 2,940 sf.
