Furniture Supplier Consolidates With New Lease

PETERBOROUGH, UK-Furniture supplier Willis & Gambier has leased 545,000 sf of industrial space at ProLogis Kingston Park, a 1.5-million-sf-master-planned industrial park in the East Midlands. With the deal, the furniture company will be consolidating its distribution facilities from three sites to one. The new facility will serve as Willis & Gambier’s nationwide distribution center. The price of the lease was not disclosed.

The industrial facility at Kinston Park is part of a development called Hampton, a new, 2,500-acre township currently being created on the southern side of Peterborough, Cambridgeshire. A shopping centre has already been built, 8,000 new homes are in the pipeline, and Peterborough’s town centre will also be redeveloped. The plans are part of a regeneration program to transform Peterborough into one of Europe’s leading cities by 2020, when its population is expected to have grown by more than a third.

Alan Curtis, managing director for ProLogis in the UK says in a prepared statement that “with convenient access to modes of transportation and large local population, Peterborough has quickly become an attractive place for companies with large-scale distribution requirements. So far, we have leased more than 1.3 million sf of inventory space and have just completed development on a third facility at the park, for which we are already seeing strong activity. We look forward to working with Willis & Gambier in Peterborough and to serving as their facilities provider of choice.”
