The opening festivities this week attracted a swarm of government officials, who see it as a positive reflection on the state of Montenegro's economy. Branimir Gvozdenovic, the minister of Economic Development, says that Montenegro had not only natural beauty to offer international visitors, but a competitive, transparent, low-tax economy. Also present at the Hotel Podgorica for the opening reception were the country's Deputy Prime Minister Vujica Lazovic, the American ambassador, Roderick Moore, and the Charge d'Affaires of the Delegation of the European Commission, Clive Rumbold.

Andreas Marambos, managing director of Colliers International Montenegro, says that the country had enormous potential for development and that Colliers could play a major part in that development by coordinating interest from international investors. "We think Montenegro has enormous potential, and we hope to play a constructive part in the development of the country. We are the only major international property consultancy operating here in Montenegro and we will be offering a full range of professional real estate services. We have a fantastic range of projects that I believe will contribute to the future growth of Montenegro and I look forward to announcing them."

Philip Bay, regional director of Colliers Southeast Europe, says that the beauty of the country was a vital resource that should be protected and that sustainable development offered the best future for both local communities and business interests.

Colliers International Southeast Europe currently has more than 26 million sf of projects under exclusive representation. Early this week, it announced that it is leasing properties for the first shopping center in the ethnic Albanian-majority area of southern Serbia. The 204,000-sf Interspeed Shopping Center in Presevo is set to open this summer.

Colliers International Southeast Europe has been instrumental in the development of the largest and market-defining projects in the countries in which it operates, such as Business Park Sofia, Airport City Belgrade, and Avenue Mall in Zagreb. It is hoping to undertake similar major projects in Montenegro.
