The hotel, the first Starwood product in Northeast Florida, will include 20,000 sf of meeting space, a spa, fitness center, retail space, a restaurant and bar, two swimming pools, poolside café, and a lounge and bar adjacent to the 65-slip marina with boardwalk promenade. The project is expected to be completed in fall 2010. Gatehouse Capital Corp. president and CEO Marty Collins tells GlobeSt.com that the project is expected to cost $150 million.

The project will also include the Residences at the Westin St. Augustine with 70 three-bedroom residences. Collins says prices for the units will be over $1 million. "St. Augustine is the oldest town in the country," Collins says. "It doesn't have any real upscale hospitality or any conference space."

The Devlin Group will serve as the general contractors on the project. Dallas-based ForrestPerkins will handle the interior architecture and interior design for the hotel. The architect for the condominiums is Hollywood, FL-based O'Donnell Dannwolf and Partners, Architects Inc. and the architect for the hotel is Dallas-based HKS, Inc. The landscape architecture and site-planning will be completed by Jacksonville-based Ervin, Lovett and Miller and Jacksonville-based England-Thims and Miller Inc. is the engineer on the project.
