Granite Plans 500,000 SF for New Land Purchases

HOUSTON-The developer buys six acres in the Woodlands area to build a 200,000-sf class A office and goes hard on 4.5 acres in Westchase for 300,000 sf of the same caliber.

HOUSTON-Granite Properties is planning to build another 500,000 sf of class A office in Greater Houston, closing on one six-acre tract in the Woodlands area and going hard on 4.5 acres in Westchase. The developer’s project roster, including two under-construction spec office buildings, represents a $200-million pipeline for the city.

“We obviously believe in the Houston market. I feel very confident I’ll get one started, if not both, this year,” R. Scott Martin, the Dallas-based developer’s executive managing director in Houston, tells GlobeSt.com. “That’s if everything continues to hold in Houston.”

Granite acquired six acres at the intersection of FM 242 and Research Boulevard in Vision Park near Interstate 45. Martin says Houston architect Kirksey is working on a design for a 200,000-sf, eight-story office building.
