Union City Gets First Residential High Rise

UNION CITY, NJ-The Thread, 14 stories and 150 condo residences, is rising adjacent to the Lincoln Tunnel viaduct.

UNION CITY, NJ-Cities like Hoboken and Jersey City are known for their residential high rises, and now this neighboring town just to the north in Hudson County is getting into the act with a high-rise condo building of its own. W Developers, a Lakewood-based company that builds properties mostly in New York City, is constructing the Thread, a 14-story building that will have 150 units.

“Historically a family-oriented, bustling city predominantly made up of brownstones, two-family homes and locally owned shops, Union City is now catching the hip urban vibe of its trendy Gold Coast neighbors,” says a spokesman for W Developers. The Thread derives its name from this city’s history as a hub of the garment and lace manufacturing industry.
