Caputo's comes to the locally based shopping center giant with more than two decades of retail experience under his belt. He joins Equity One from New Hyde Park, NY-based Kimco Realty Co. where he was executive vice president. In that position he led the portfolio management and acquisitions groups. Prior to Kimco, Caputo was a principal with Rreef where he was in led nationwide retail acquisitions and dispositions, as well as served on the investment committee. He resume also includes principal in charge of retail leasing at Colliers Pinkard in Baltimore.

"Tom's passion for our business is contagious and his relationships with brokers, property owners and institutional capital providers are unmatched in our industry," Olson says in a company statement. "I have worked closely with Tom and am confident that his leadership skills and experience will enable us to build a world-class asset management infrastructure."

The move reunites Olson and Caputo, in a way. Olson came to Equity One from Kimco where he was president of the eastern and western shopping centers. He officially joined Equity One on Jan. 1, 2007 and took over the roles of president and CEO in April of that year. He also took a seat on the company's board of directors, as GlobeSt.com previously reported.

Caputo's hiring comes on the heels of several other executive changes this year. In January, Equity One tapped Mark Langer as chief administrator to lead human resources, information technology and marketing. He had previously served as COO of Johnson Capital Management. At the same time, Equity One revealed that COO Jeffrey Stauffer would resign, effective Feb. 28, as GlobeSt.com previously reported.

In another move, Equity One promoted Arthur Gallagher to executive vice president and general counsel earlier this month. He served as senior vice president since December 2006, and as general counsel and corporate secretary since coming to Equity One in 2003.
