Designed to accommodate the judicial requirements of the fast-growing Ocala area, the building will house the State Attorney's Office, and new courts and related services. The expansion building will connect on all five levels to the existing judicial center, which was constructed in 1989. The project is expected to be completed in late 2009.
Moss & Associates is the construction manager on the project. Architects are locally based Architecture Studio Inc. and HOK.
According to Moss & Associates executive vice president Ted Adams, the judicial center is the largest capital program to date for Marion County. Moss has been managing the county's long-term construction program since 2005. Under the program, Moss manages new construction and renovation of county facilities, public parks, ball fields and recreation complexes, boating and outdoor activity centers and agricultural facilities.
