The Hilton Garden Inn is being built and will be operated by the Indianapolis-based Sun Group of Hotels, and the new property will be the company's third in New Jersey, joining an existing property in Mt. Laurel and an under-construction hotel in Elmwood Park. The cost of the new hotel here has not been released. The surrounding Overpeck Centre is part of the portfolio of Secaucus-based Hartz Mountain Industries.

"We look forward to debuting Hilton Garden Inn at Overpeck Centre," says Bharat Patel, CEO of Sun. "Our hotels offer a combination of quality and affordability for both corporate and leisure guests."

"The hotel is a terrific addition to Overpeck Centre," says Emanuel Stern president and COO of Hartz. "It will appeal to travelers, especially those visiting the area for business, with its convenient access to New York and the rest of New Jersey."

Besides the 140 rooms, the new property will have a business center, workout facility, pool and restaurant and bar. The site is across from 65 Challenger Rd., 170,000-sf office building, and adjacent 100 Challenger Rd., a 140,000-sf building.

Overall, Overpeck Centre consists 60 waterfront acres with a total of more than one million sf of office space, and it also has a 12-screen Loews movie theater on-site. Located directly off the NJ Turnpike and Route 46 in Bergen County, Overpeck's major corporate tenants include Bank of America, Samsung and Agfa-Gevaert, which continued its 20-year, 88,000-sf presence at 100 Challenger Rd. with a lease renewal less than two years ago.
