Located just off the Strip on Fashion Show Drive, behind the former New Frontier site, the 64-story, gold-skinned building joins the Trump International in New York City and Trump International in Chicago. The grand opening celebration is scheduled for April 11. Donald Trump is expected to participate, though it's unclear if he will show up in-person. His partner in the project is the former owner of the New Frontier property, Phil Ruffin.
The unit mix includes 880 studio units, 352 one-bedroom suites and, on the top five floors, 50 one-, two and three-bedroom penthouse suites. Unit sizes range from 515- to 3,500 sf. The purchase price for a studio starts at $700,000 and $2.2 million for a penthouse. Approximately 95% of the rooms have been sold to owners who may put the unit back into the hotel rental pool in order to offset costs.
Each unit has flat-screen televisions, a European-style kitchen, vanity, in-mirror television screen, marble countertops, spa tub and sleep-system bed. Each room also will have wireless high-speed Internet access and a fax machine. Common amenities include indoor, valet parking on the lower levels of the tower, white-gloved doormen, a large pool deck, a 1,500-sf health club, 2,400 sf of meeting space and a 10,000-sf spa. The hotel's signature restaurant, located on the first floor, is DJT. The poolside restaurant is H2(eau).
Construction of the tower began in July 2005. A second 64-story tower is planned for the site. No development timeline has been announced. Three more Trump-branded hotels are slated to open in 2009, in Soho (New York City), Waikiki Beach (Honolulu) and Fort Lauderdale, FL. In 2010, hotels bearing his name are slated for Toronto, New Orleans, and internationally in Scotland, Dubai, Panama, Mexico, and the Dominican Republic.
