MORROW, GA-Construction has started on two projects at Clayton State University, a 450-bed student housing facility and a 62,000-sf student activity center. Both projects are expected to be complete by this fall.
Atlanta-based Carter was selected by the university as program manager to develop the projects, which are aimed at enhancing student-life-related facilities on the campus. The university is located 15 miles southeast of Atlanta and has 6,000 students.
“Our number-one purpose is to meet the higher education needs for this region,” Thomas Harden, Clayton State president, said in a prepared statement. “We need to provide a residential experience for first-time, full-time freshmen. There also needs to be more opportunities on campus for activities for all students.”
