Beaumont Plans $204M Hospital Expansion

ROYAL OAK, MI-Beaumont Hospital Royal Oak is planning a 346,000-sf expansion, including a new emergency center.

ROYAL OAK, MI-Beaumont Hospitals, based here, is planning a 346,000-sf expansion of its Beaumont Hospital Royal Oak facility at 3601 W. 13 Mile Rd. The estimated cost for the expansion is $204 million, according to a released statement on the planned project.

Representatives from the hospital were not available for comment. Beaumont Hospitals is seeking Department of Community Health approval of a certificate of need for the expansion.

The expansion will be constructed to the north of the existing hospital. The expansion will include the replacement of the hospital’s existing 62,875-sf emergency center with a 96,000-sf center which will have 173 private patient rooms, a 36-bed intensive care unit and four operating rooms, according to the release. The hospital’s pediatric emergency center will also increase from 11 rooms to 20 rooms.
