"Though it may not have been apparent to the casual observer, an incredible amount of work has been done on the site," says developer Gary Waxman, principal of Cleveland-based Liberty Harbor LLC. "We have taken down six buildings onsite and relocated all but one of the former tenants. We have installed all of the utilities, including a crucial lift station, which were necessary before vertical construction could begin. We have also built out all of the roads, curbs and gutters, and completed our central lagoon."
Liberty Harbor is a 155-acre development that will include approximately 2,400 residences and 300 single-family homes along the Brunswick River, 4.6 miles from the Atlantic Ocean. The project includes a 450-slip marina that, when completed, will be the largest between Miami and Charleston, SC.
The Liberty Harbor Yacht Club will overlook the marina and offer aquatic sports, entertainment and dining. All approvals for the marina have been secured and construction is expected to begin later in the year, with construction on the condos anticipated to begin in the summer.
Residents of Liberty Harbor will have access to a private beach club on Jekyll Island, the Liberty Harbor Yacht Club, a fitness center and spa with a swimming pavilion surrounded by natural trails and parks.
