Prime Retail Unveils $55M Green Expansion

WILLIAMSBURG, VA-The 115,000-sf expansion at the outlet center makes Prime Outlets--Williamsburg the region's largest outlet center at 456,922 sf.

WILLIAMSBURG, VA-Prime Retail has completed a $55 million, 115,000-sf expansion to its Prime Outlets–Williamsburg. The expansion positions the center as the largest outlet shopping site in the region at 456,922 sf. The expansion will house 25 new retailers and a 300-seat food court.

The expansion is also notable in that it was designed to meet LEED certification, according to the developer. Construction elements including the largest pervious concrete paving project in the US, eco-conscious storm water management, rain water recycling irrigation and reduced water consumption.

New retailers moving into the space include Adidas Factory Outlet, American Eagle Outfitters, Burberry, COACH Factory, kate spade, Kenneth Cole, Juicy Couture, Lucky Brand Jeans, PUMA, Skechers, Tommy Bahama and True Religion Brand Jeans. This expansion is part of Baltimore-based Prime Retail’s plans to either develop, renovate or expand some 1.5 million sf of outlet centers in several states as well as in Puerto Rico over the next two years. According to an earlier GlobeSt.com interview with Prime Retail president Bob Brvenik, demand for change in this space is driving the company’s construction and development pipeline.
