City Unveils $125M in Green Developments

WEST HOLLYWOOD, CA-City officials, here, plan $125 million in capital improvement projects that will include the development of three LEED-certified facilities and expansion of the city’s open space. The city has named Heery International as program and construction manager for the facilities, which are part of the West Hollywood 25th Anniversary Capital Improvement Project.

Heery, which maintains offices locally in Los Angeles and Long Beach, will manage the construction of phase one of the West Hollywood Park master plan, the West Hollywood City Hall Community Service Center and parking project and phase one of the Plummer Park master plan. Since the city is pursuing LEED certification for each of the facilities, Heery will be in charge of monitoring sustainable initiatives and ensuring that LEED criteria are met, says Heery project manager Daniel Adams.

Phase one of the West Hollywood Park master plan will include construction of a 42,000-sf library to replace the city’s existing library, a 2.5 acre expansion of green space, new tennis courts and a 333-space municipal parking garage. Designed to meet LEED Silver rating criteria, the library and the West Hollywood Community Service Center may incorporate a photovoltaic system to convert sunlight into electricity.
