South Philly Gets New Neighborhood

PHILADELPHIA-Construction begins on 313 townhouses built in this formerly vacant South Philly neighborhood. Some of the residences are scheduled to open this fall.

PHILADELPHIA-Developers broke ground on new houses in the Packer Park neighborhood for the first time in many years in order to revive South Philadelphia. Some of the residences in the planned community are scheduled to open this fall.

Petoni Construction will build 313 two to three-story brick townhouses on a 30-acre parcel of land that was formerly owned by the city. The area is located on Hartranft Street off of Penrose Avenue. Petoni was unable to answer GlobeSt.com queries before deadline.

“We are proud to play such an integral role in the revitalization of the Packer Park neighborhood,” says Donna Bartynski, president of Petoni Construction and developer of Siena Place, in a prepared statement. “At Siena Place, residents will live the ultimate South Philadelphia lifestyle. No where else in America can you find such unique character, culture, history, and ambience.”
