In his new role, Walker will be responsible for pursuing and executing development, redevelopment and acquisitions of multifamily properties in Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee, South Carolina and North Carolina. He will be working with TCC subsidiary High Street Residential, which focuses on turnaround projects in urban neighborhoods.

"Our goal is to pursue pure multifamily opportunities and mixed-use developments with a heavy residential component, particularly in high growth markets such as Atlanta, Charlotte, Raleigh and Nashville," says Curt Grantham, senior managing director of TCC's Southeast operations in Atlanta. He says Walker's experience and industry contacts will allow the company to ramp up High Street's activity within the region, now limited to projects in Georgia and Tennessee.

Walker says one advantage to Trammell Crow's mixed-use efforts will be to bring all components of the project to the same table within the same company, where other multifamily developers would have to partner with unrelated firms. He adds that High Street will focus heavily on urban redevelopment projects, which are increasingly in demand by communities.

While with Post Properties, Walker was responsible for developing and acquiring more than $400 million worth of luxury apartments and condominiums in Georgia, Florida and North Carolina, while also reviewing its Southeast portfolio for redevelopment and rehabilitation. Previously, he spent seven years with Fairfield Residential LLC, overseeing projects ranging from student housing to luxury apartments.
