The dollar may be on the rocks, but the value of US development talent is at a premium, especially in the Middle East, Eastern Europe, Russia and Asia. These regions are experiencing explosive growth and need development in the office, residential, retail and other sectors to support it. Many of these regions lack available indigenous talent, and recruiting US professionals can be difficult because of cultural and language differences. Over the past six months, we have been asked to manage searches in Dubai, Russia and Mexico, and we see regular job postings for development and construction professionals in foreign countries. While the US markets are sorting themselves out, real estate talent that has an interest in working overseas can find some very interesting opportunities and different lifestyles.
