McHugh Offers Former HQ Site, Expects $30M

CHICAGO-McHugh Construction is selling a 1.8-acre site at 2222 S. Indiana Ave. The company has owned the property since 1970, says Matthew Lawton, senior managing director at the Chicago office of Holliday Fenoglio Fowler LP. There are several buildings on the property, including the previous headquarters for McHugh, which is now at 1737 S. Michigan Ave. The building is expected to sell in the $30 million range, Lawton says.

The Chicago office of HFF is marketing the site, which is bounded by South Michigan Avenue, South Indiana Avenue, East Cermak Road and 23rd Street. The property is adjacent to the 2.2-million-sf McCormick Place Convention Center. The center is currently undergoing an expansion that will have 710,000 sf and is expected to increase hotel bookings by about 300,000 annually. The site is also near the Museum Campus, Soldier Field and Grant Park.
