The 30-acre phase one at 11410 Century Oaks Terrace opened in March 2007. Domain II, set to rise on the developer's 27-acre balance, will be anchored by a 200,000-sf, three-story Dillard's, 80,000-sf, two-story Dick's Sporting Goods and eight-screen Village Road Show Gold Class Cinema, all names previously released to the public. The new names for the all-star lineup include Maggiano's, BJ's Restaurant & Brewhouse and Fleming's Prime Steakhouse & Wine Bar.
"From our perspective, this is reinforcement of the success Domain I has been," a spokesman for the Indianapolis-based Simon Property Group, tells GlobeSt.com, "and we're capitalizing on that with phase two." The second phase will come on line in November 2009.
Simon's first phase had 700,000 sf of retail, 90,000 sf of office and 390 apartments. Its anchors included several firsts for the state capital: Neiman Marcus, Tiffany & Co., Daily Grill, Joe DiMaggio's Italian Chophouse and McCormick & Schmick's. It also brought new locations for shopping mainstays like Macy's.
The Main Street-style development is designed with pedestrian esplanades and artistic loft buildings, parked at the confluence of Mopac Expressway, US Hwy. 183 and Loop 360 in a 238-acre redevelopment district. Kathleen Shields, Simon's senior vice president of development, says in a press release that the second phase, though a complement to the first, "will have its own unique and very hip image, catering to juniors and family shoppers as well as to the fashion-minded clientele of Domain I."
White Lodging, based in Merrillville, IN, is Simon's partner on the Westin at the Domain, a four-star, full-service hotel component supported by 14,000 sf of meeting space. It will break ground later in the summer.
