TAMPA, FL-CLW Real Estate Services Group, a local brokerage that has operated quietly for years, is on its way to sounding its own trumpets with a new ten-member board of advisors. The board, whose members are involved in business both inside and outside of commercial real estate, will direct the firm's future activities.
"These are people who, quite frankly, are our friends and who we respect not only in their respective businesses, but as people," Doug Rothschild, CLW managing principal, tells GlobeSt.com. He says the aim of establishing the board was to widen its views of the business beyond its own principals.
Based in Tampa's Westshore office district, CLW provides commercial real estate services for a national client roster of companies headquartered within and outside the Tampa Bay market. Earlier this month, St. Petersburg-based financial services firm Raymond James & Associates Inc. hired CLW to provide project and construction management services nationwide.
"Over 50% of our business is with corporate clients all over the US," Rothschild says. "We've done a good job nationally, but now our focus is on growing our footprint within the state of Florida."
CLW's services, all offered from its Tampa office, include multi-market tenant representation, project and construction management, investment sales, development, and consulting services to institutional clients. It is considering establishing another Florida office in Orlando, a process in which Rothschild says the advisors will be directly involved.
Among the list of notable CLW advisors is Paul Avery, COO of Tampa-based OSI Restaurant Partners Inc., parent of Outback Steakhouse and several other national chains. "The team at CLW continues to build on its exemplary reputation and success in the real estate services business," Avery stated in a release.
Other members of CLW's board include: Jeff Cash, chief of Florida commercial real estate lending for Regions Bank; Richard Eckhard, a partner in the real estate practice of Holland & Knight's Tampa office; Paul Johan, co-founder of Ballast Point Venture Partners in St. Petersburg; John McDonald, senior managing director and co-founder of Hyde Park Capital Partners LLC; Joe Merluzzi, headmaster of Berkeley Preparatory School; Ron Rotella, executive director of the Westshore Alliance; Martin Schaffel, founder of Audio Visual Innovations; Bronson Thayer, chairman and CEO of Florida Business BancGroup Inc.; and Joe Taggart, a longtime local executive with Crescent Resources LLC who joined CLW in 2002. Rothschild will also serve on the board along with CLW principals Lou Varsames, Rob Learnard and Bruce Lauer.
