The building will also house a radiology department equipped for magnetic resonance imaging and computed tomography scanning as well as radiation treatment. Skanska's Durham, NC-based office will be managing the project.

This hospital is the latest in a string of projects that Skanska has completed in the Carilion Clinic Medical Park in Roanoke, Scott Rivenbark, project executive, tells GlobeSt.com. Including this mandate, he says, Skanska has been awarded six projects all together since 2002.

Over the years Skanska has developed a distinct expertise in hospital and health care services construction, and is ranked among the top health care builders in the country. Another project in the area that Rivenbark points to is the development of the Lewis Gale Hospital in nearby Salem, VA.
