Jacob Sudhoff and Judy Helm are principals of the new affiliate, Grubb & Ellis/Coastal Bend. The office will be located at 6116 S. Staples St. Sudhoff has operated a residential real estate company for several years in the city while Helm has more than 25 years as a property manager.
A Grubb & Ellis spokeswoman acknowledges Sudhoff's background is residential, but adds it's not uncommon for Grubb & Ellis affiliates to have residential and development arms. She stresses to GlobeSt.com that "any relationship we'd have with the new affiliate would be strictly commercial."
Grubb & Ellis/Coastal Bend has become the 49th affiliate in the national firm's network. The size of the commercial team is unclear. However, the plan is to offer a full-service platform for acquisitions, dispositions, leasing, property management and consulting services. "Affiliates are set up when Grubb & Ellis clients have needs in those markets," the spokeswoman adds.
Moody Younger, executive managing director of Texas for the Santa Ana, CA-headquartered Grubb & Ellis, says Corpus Christi is an important market in the state because of its potential growth as a port. "Within the next five years, this will be a significant port for the US and an important industrial and logistics market," Younger says. According to the Port of Corpus Christi website, deep-water and large-depth sites ranging from one acre to more than 1,000 acres are available for industrial development.
Sudhoff didn't return telephone calls to comment on the new shop. Helm, who is heading up the property management group, says in a press release that "this formidable combination between local leading real estate professionals and the global footprint of Grubb & Ellis presents the most exciting opportunity for commercial real estate clients in the Coastal Bend [region] that I have seen in my career."
