"I'm really happy," Spiegel tells GlobeSt.com, in discussing the move that comes after mulling several potential offers. "It was a clear choice, and I felt it was the right choice." Spiegel will focus on the MetroWest area along with CM&G Associates William Lynch and Timothy O'Brien, a team that Spiegel explains will interact with other company professionals, such as the investment sales group and brokers servicing other sections of the region. The broad depth of CM&G's local coverage, and its union this year with Colliers International, were elements of the platform that steered Spiegel to the firm, he relays. "I feel I can accommodate my clients no matter where they need to be, in Massachusetts to really anywhere around the globe," he says. "That's very comforting."

Spiegel says he is also impressed by the balanced mix of emerging professionals and established players on board the company, a roster than includes chairman Thomas Hynes Jr., President Kevin Phelan and Ronald Perry, head of the Downtown team, plus seasoned brokers such as James Elcock and Joseph Flaherty. "They have the talent and the vertical integration already in place to succeed today," Spiegel says, adding, "They had everything on the checklist I was looking for, and I was really happy that they seemed as interested in me as I was in them."

Spiegel is a graduate of Babson College who began his career in the MetroWest, working for R.W. Holmes Realty. He is the latest hire by CM&G, as it continues to expand following last year's merger with FirstService Corp., a Toronto-based property company that led to the Colliers International affiliation. Simultaneous to Spiegel's arrival, for example, CM&G announced this week the addition of life sciences expert Matthew Powers, as an SVP in the Development and Advisory Services group. CM&G officials were unavailable to discuss Spiegel's arrival, but one market watcher familiar with the broker calls the pickup "a home run" for CM&G. "They will do extremely well together," opines the source, who works for a rival firm that supposedly had also courted Spiegel.
