Starbucks Opening 150 More Units in Europe

LONDON-The coffee chain, in a partnership with SSP, is focusing on airports, train stations and other travel centers.

LONDON-Starbucks Coffee Co. is opening 150 units in Europe over the next three years, specifically targeting airports and train stations. The Seattle-based coffee giant is in a licensing partnership with SSP, which is based here, to carry out the expansion.

SSP specializes in placing food and beverage offerings in transportation venues. It operates 2,000 outlets for chains like Burger King, M&S Simply Food, Pizza Hut and others in 29 countries.

SSP is currently planning the food and beverage outlets for the Geneva International Airport and earlier this year opened 19 offerings in a new terminal at the Shanghai Pudong International Airport. It was also awarded the contract for all future eateries in a new wing of the Abu Dhabi International Airport.
