Construction Starts for $12M Academic Building

TOMS RIVER, NJ-Ocean County College's new 30,000-sf social science center will be ready by Sept. 2009.

TOMS RIVER, NJ-Work is under way for a new 30,000-sf social science center on the campus of Ocean County College’s main campus here. Carrying a price tag of $12 million, the yet-to-be-named structure is slated for delivery in Sept. 2009.

The building will feature classroom space, computer labs, faculty office, student and staff lounges, storage and a conference room. It was designed by the Hasbrouck Heights, NJ-based DMR Architects, assisted by French & Parrello and KS Engineers. It’s also been designed to be LEED certified.

“There is clearly a need for more college buildings to support a swelling population,” says DMR founder and president Lloyd Rosenberg. Ocean County, straddling Central and Southern New Jersey, is one of the state’s fastest-growing jurisdictions, now approaching 600,000 residents.
