"It's an opportunity for me to leverage my relationships in the brokerage community and further my interests in development," Holman tells GlobeSt.com. His duties include leasing oversight for Phoenix-based Opus West's 2.5-million-sf portfolio in Dallas/Fort Worth. In addition, he will working on a full punch list of development-related needs, including site acquisition and design and construction oversight.

Holman says talks with Opus West went full circle in less than six weeks, starting during a 500,000-sf lease negotiation for Paris-based Alcatel-Lucent, which he and CBRE executive vice president Dave Anderson had worked out with the developer's local team. "I think that was the entree to start the discussion," he says, citing the high level of professionalism that existed on both sides of the deal-making as the catalyst. "Sometimes when you aren't looking, the best things can happen."

Holman will be working side-by-side with Steve Chilton, senior director of real estate development; Geoff Meyer, director of real estate; and Tom Kier, senior director of retail development. And, Holman stresses, his long-time and deep-running brokerage ties will make him "a resource" for them.

Likewise, Holman says he has something to gain. "This is the last piece that I wanted to gain experience in," he says. "It's really about enjoying what you do and leveraging skills and relationships."

At CBRE, Holman was executive vice president and executive managing officer, charged with leading all business lines in Dallas, Fort Worth, Austin, San Antonio and Albuquerque. The job move was made three weeks ago, with word just now being put out to the street.

"Ran is a seasoned professional with a wealth of knowledge in the real estate category--from operations and leasing to development and acquisitions," Opus West president and CEO Thomas W. Roberts says in a press release. "His experience will be invaluable as Opus continues to strengthen relationships and expand its project portfolio in the Texas market."
