The signing is part of the Bolingbrook, IL-based company's expansion of its operations in the northeastern US, according to a company spokesman. Quebecor World currently operates a consolidation center in nearby Edison.
"We were able to meet Quebecor World Logistics' requirement for a strategically located class A facility in one of the most dynamic and land-constrained markets in the US," says Gene Reilly, AMB Property Corp.'s president-the Americas, in a statement. His company has a regional office in East Rutherford, NJ. "AMB's recent leasing activity in Northern New Jersey, including brownfield development and redevelopment project leasing, speaks to the strength of a key distribution market in the US."
In the transaction, AMB was represented by Joel Lubin and Rob Kossar of Jones Lang LaSalle. Quebecor World was represented by Jon Tesser of Colliers Houston & Co. and Steve Levitas of Colliers Bennett & Kahweiler. Terms were not released.
Expandable and located on 26.5 acres along Schoolhouse Rd. near Exit 12 of I-287, the year-old "is consistent with AMB's initiative to incorporate sustainable building design in its new developments," Reilly says.
Specifically, AMB Franklin Commerce Center has been developed with recycled products, including recycled steel and precast wall panels made with fly ash. Also, the wall panels were fabricated within 500 miles of the project site, the radius endorsed by the US Green Building Council, and are insulated to increase energy efficient of the building.
