NFL Stadium Picks Up Two Naming Sponsors

EAST RUTHERFORD, NJ-Anheuser-Busch and MetLife both sign on for entranceway sponsorships at the $1.3-billion, 82,000-seat stadium.

EAST RUTHERFORD, NJ-And then there were three. The new $1.3-billion, 82,000-seat stadium under construction here for the NFL’s New York Giants and Jets had five major sponsorships up for grabs, one for each of the four corner entrances and the overall naming rights. And two of the corner sponsorships are now taken, by brewer Anheuser-Busch and MetLife.

The stadium is being built and will be owned by the New Meadowlands Stadium Co., a joint venture of the two teams, on land leased from the New Jersey Sports and Exposition Authority. Construction has been under way since April 2007, with completion set for the start of the 2010 season.

Details of the two sponsorships were not released. “The parties will be working toward definitive documents in the coming weeks,” reads a statement issued by the New Meadowlands Stadium Co.
