The New York City-based Deloitte's executive team has acquired land off Texas 114 in Circle T Ranch from Hillwood. Word first surfaced in March that Dallas/Fort Worth was under consideration for the project. The tentative plan calls for a 2009 construction start on the 750,000-sf campus, with the ribbon-cutting penciled for 2011.
Deloittte's decision adds 100 jobs to its 3,300-member team in Houston, Austin, San Antonio and Dallas/Fort Worth. In addition to the immediate gain for North Texas, Deloitte's press release points to additional economic benefits from service contracts plus the traditional add-on from business travelers' demands.
"As our industry evolves faster than ever before, Deloitte's learning and leadership development center will enable our people to take the lead in shaping the future of our profession," CEO Barry Salzberg says in this morning's press release. "We expect this facility to become the heart of our organization--the place where we meet, learn and develop our next generation of leaders."
Deloitte is planning a LEED-certified campus with 800 guest rooms, conference space, ballroom, business center, classrooms, recreational facilities and fitness center. It is estimated the center could host up to 40,000 visitors annually.
The 2,500-acre, master-planned Westlake also houses Fidelity's one-million-sf campus, which expanded again just last year. "Not only is the facility a great addition to the Westlake business community, it complements our town's comprehensive plan," explains Westlake Mayor Laura Wheat. "It is an important part of moving Westlake toward our vision of being a knowledge-based community."
