Last week, Lyon County Commissioners approved a special-use permit for the project to be built at the entryway of the already approved 2,400-acre Traditions master planned community. Both projects are being developed by Landmark Communities.

The first phase of the casino hotel will total 79,000 sf, with 30,000 sf being casinos space. The remainder of the space will house a poker room, two restaurants and a bar. The second phase will include a 250-room hotel, fitness area, and a third restaurant and pool.

The land owner is Sutro Tunnel Co. The applicant for the project is the Dayton Development Group, according to county documents. The partners in Dayton Development Group include Kenneth R. Bock, a development consultant who previously was Perini Building's VP of gaming and lodging; Dave Suder and John Platon, the president and SVP of KHS&S Contractors; Richard Schaller of SMC Contracting; and Don Smit, a project manager.

None of the individuals with Dayton Development Group could immediately be reached Thursday for comment. The Northern Nevada Development Authority did not respond to a request for comment.
