MIAMI- Arquitectonica-designed residential development Icon Brickell has topped off with its NE and SE towers at 58 stories each and the Brickell Tower/Viceroy Hotel at 50 stories. The $800-million project, totaling 4.6 million sf in 1,794 units, is being developed by Miami-based Related Group and is expected to be ready for occupancy in October 2008.
The development, located at on Biscayne Bay at 501 Brickell Ave., will feature a 100-unit hotel managed by Kor in the Viceroy Tower. All three luxury condominium towers are designed around an expansive 15-story podium raised 100 feet above a stretch of the bay, offering views of the water, city and adjacent Miami Circle and Brickell Park.
Icon Brickell is 93% sold and prices for the units range from $500,000 up to approximately $1 million, according to a representative at the development's call center. Calls to developer Related Group were not returned Monday afternoon.
Five restaurants are planned for the project, including Viceroy Restaurant, along with a 28,000-sf spa and swimming pools on an outdoor deck. The building will also be equipped with smart technology such as wireless connectivity and an interactive concierge-on-demand network in every unit.
In April, GlobeSt.com reported the topping off of the 67-story Marquis, also designed by Arquitectonica. Located on Biscayne Bay at 1100 Biscayne Blvd., the building is the second-tallest in Miami at 700 feet. Developed by Leviev Boymelgreen Marquis Developers LLC, the project includes 305 luxury residences, a 10,000-sf spa, restaurants and a 56-key boutique hotel operated by Colorado-based RockResorts. Residences range in price from $1 million to $15 million. According to Martin Rozenblum, managing director for Africa Israel Holdings, the main investor for the project and a major international developer with operations in over 14 countries, the units were 80% sold in April.
"The building will appear to be a sparkling crystal stalagmite formation in the skyline,"said Arquitectonica's founding principal, Bernardo Fort-Brescia, in a release. "Using the dynamic light and changing organic environment of Miami, the Marquis will bring a magical and artistic presence, offering the city its own architectural crown jewel."
Miami-based Arquitectonica is a full-service architecture, interior design, landscape architecture and planning firm led by founders Fort-Brescia and Laurinda Spear. The firm has completed a number of well-known buildings in major cities all over the world, including Philips Arena in Atlanta and the AmericanAirlines Arena in Miami.
