GFI Management Services
NEW YORK CITY-The new chief executive officer for GFI Management Services is Frederick Mehlman. He will oversee the operations, asset management and accounting for the firm, a locally based owner and manager of some 100 properties with more than 20,000 units. The appointment follows the partnership between GFI and the Carlyle Group, where the latter will provide GFI with $300 million worth of equity to invest in assets through-out the country, giving it $1.5 billion in buying power. For the past 14 years, Mehlman ran the management company of Maxx Properties, where he ran its management company and oversaw a national portfolio of more than 14,000 units.

Riverstone Residential Group DALLAS-The locally based property management company has hired a pair of senior vice presidents to oversee its operations in California. Handling Southern California is Craig Rooney, who will oversee a portfolio of more than 12,000 units and help to develop new business. Most recently in his 20-year career, he was a regional vice president for Western National Group, where he managed 7,000 units and new business development. Overseeing operations in Northern California is Heather Slack. She will manage more than 9,000 units in communities in the Bay Area and Sacramento. She, too, will help in new business development. She joins the firm from Alliance Residential, where she was national director of new business development.
