Pier Village has already brought 320 rental residential units and more than 100,000 sf of retail to market, and a four-building second phase is set to add another 223 units, 12,000 sf of retail and a 24-unit condo hotel on the 16-acre site along Ocean Blvd. Construction is well under way, with delivery slated for a little later this year.

"This area was crying out for redevelopment," says architect Dave Minno of the Lambertville-based Minno & Wasko Architects. His firm teamed with the Hoboken-based Dean Marchetto Architects to design Pier Village.

"Just six years ago, this 16-acre site was a virtual ghost town of dilapidated buildings and abandoned housing," Minno says. "Now there are jobs at Pier Village, and people are making this a destination. Most of the development in this area in the past 20 or 30 years didn't really promote quality redevelopment or bring jobs to the area."
