The Holiday Inn was constructed in 1981, says Gina LaBarre, VP of brand management for Crowne Plaza Hotels and Resorts. Renovations include a new roof for the guest tower, landscaping, new exterior surfaces and new guestroom soft goods such as carpets, drapery and bedding, LaBarre says. The facility will have more than 9,000 sf of meeting and banquet space. Renovations began on May 1 and the renovated hotel is expected to open in the fourth quarter of 2008. The hotel will be managed by Global Hotel Management, based in Normal, IL.

The owner acquired the hotel in November 2007, LaBarre says. The hotel is near Illinois State University, an Arnold Palmer golf course and several corporations such as State Farm, Caterpillar Inc. Bridgestone and Verizon, she says. The hotel is also only eight miles from the Central Illinois Regional Airport.
