BLOOMINGTON, IL-The Holiday Inn, at Eight Traders Circle, is undergoing a renovation into a Crowne Plaza hotel. The hotel is owned by Normal Hospitality LLC, based in Normal, IL. The cost of the renovation to the Crowne Plaza Bloomington-Normal is estimated at $11.5 million.
The Holiday Inn was constructed in 1981, says Gina LaBarre, VP of brand management for Crowne Plaza Hotels and Resorts. Renovations include a new roof for the guest tower, landscaping, new exterior surfaces and new guestroom soft goods such as carpets, drapery and bedding, LaBarre says. The facility will have more than 9,000 sf of meeting and banquet space. Renovations began on May 1 and the renovated hotel is expected to open in the fourth quarter of 2008. The hotel will be managed by Global Hotel Management, based in Normal, IL.
