The hotel occupies the bottom four floors of the building, sharing it with a 20,000-sf retail component. The upper floors are occupied by new residential condos. The project started construction in the summer of 2005, and carries a price tag reported to be about $80-million.

Skyview is part of a larger redevelopment project headed by Silcon, called Carriage City Plaza. The site is across from this Union County city's commuter rail station and is part of the state's transit village program. Also nearby are the renovated Union County Performing Art Centers, art galleries and new retail venues. The hotel itself is being operated by InterContinental Hotels Group.
