GEEFS is investing with Wachovia Investment Holdings LLC providing structured equity for the 18-megawatt wind farm. The farm, covering 14,000 acres in Dickey, McIntosh and McPherson counties. The three counties span a part of the North Dakota-South Dakota border. Dickey County has 61 turbines, McPherson County has 59 turbines and McIntosh hosts transmission lines.

"We are helping ACCIONA with Tatanka," says Tim Howell, managing director and origination leader of renewable energy at GEEFS, in a statement. "To charge into the American wind industry with a major project in the best wind farming area of the US." North Dakota and South Dakota are ranked, respectively, at number one and number four for wind energy potential by the American Wind Energy Association.

The wind farm contains 120 ACCIONA 1.5 megawatt turbines and can provide enough energy to power over 60,000 average homes, according to GE's release. Susan Nickey, CFO of ACCIONA Energy North America, explains in a statement, "The Dakotas' high wind energy potential and low population means that wind power will be available to transmit to the rest of the Midwest." She adds that Tatanka is part of ACCIONA's goal of "reducing the worlds CO2 emissions by 220 million tons in the next 23 years." GEEFS holds equity in 38 wind farms across the US.
