Henningsen Plans 466,000-SF Warehouse

FORKS TWP., PA-Henningsen Cold Storage will purchase a 31-acre site within J.G. Petrucci Co.’s Forks Business Center to build a 466,000-sf facility. Terms of the deal were not disclosed; Atlanta-based Walker Cos. represented Henningsen in the transaction, while JGPCO was represented in-house. Henningsen, the second tenant at the 124-acre development, plans to complete the 150,000-sf first phase of its cold storage facility in this Lehigh Valley community in 2009, JGPCO’s Tom Shaughnessy tells GlobeSt.com.

Portland, OR-based Henningsen, which sells temperature-controlled warehouse space to food companies nationwide, has another northeastern Pennsylvania facility in Scranton, about 60 miles west. Last November, the company, which owns 42 million sf of cold storage space in six states, announced its commitment to build here, as did Weyerhaeuser, which is relocating from a site in Bridgewater, NJ.

Asbury, NJ-based JGPCO broke ground last November on Forks Business Center, for which it purchased the land in a February 2007 joint venture with Philadelphia-based Grosvenor Investment Management US Inc. Located on two parcels formerly known as Brennan Farm, the business park is bounded by Uhler, Glover and Kesslersville Roads and is easily accessible via Route 33, US Highway 22 and Interstate 78 as well as railroad spurs, according to a news release. JGPCO is making improvements to Uhler Road and constructing a road to be known as Braden Boulevard.
