Fults left a senior director's post with Cushman & Wakefield of Texas Inc. earlier this summer, triggering rumors that the well-liked broker was planning to resurrect the family name on a CRE shingle. "It's almost an experiment," Fults tells GlobeSt.com. "Cushman & Wakefield is a great shop. It's an international powerhouse, but I'm glad to be on my own and nimble."

Fults Commercial is starting in a leased office in the Colonnade at 15305 N. Dallas Pkwy., with the founder and one assistant piloting the plan. "I'm talking to a couple mid-level super stars and 20- to 25-year guys and gals," Fults says, "and to several owners and several tenants."

As he builds his team, Fults says the first six months will be spent on landlord representation and then expand to the tenant side and investment sales. "But, that could change rapidly. It's a good time in the cycle with it being slow now. There should be some opportunity," he adds, explaining the plan will be kept flexible. "In a changing market, changes will be made. It's a good opportunity for me to pick up some business."
