"Marks & Spencer's new, state-of-the-art facility will be a flagship development for ProLogis in the UK," says Andrew Griffiths, managing director for ProLogis in the UK, in a statement. M&S is signing a long-term lease, according to ProLogis, but the developer will retain ownership of the building.

The facility will include warehousing and office space, training rooms, on-site catering and staff facilities. M&S will have the option of expanding to 1.25 million sf by using an additional 150,000 sf for a single building or a few smaller buildings, ProLogis tells GlobeSt.com. Currently, there are no plans for the facility, but the company is in the process of working them out.

The project is set to deliver toward the end of 2009 or the beginning of 2010, ProLogis tells GlobeSt.com. M&S plans to move into the space just after completion in 2010, bringing roughly 2,500 jobs with it when fully operational.
