Joining Breslin is Andrew Connolly, managing director and Kenneth Yip, financial analyst and associate. The team expands the Grubb & Ellis's New York retail group, which includes Henry Goldfarb, recently appointed vice chairman, and retail veterans Stanley Lindenfeld, Robert Kunikoff and Gary Schwartzman. A spokesman from GVA Williams tells GlobeSt.com that "the firm's policy is not to discuss matters involving employees or former employees" when asked about the move.

A Grubb & Ellis spokeswoman tells GlobeSt.com that Breslin and Connolly, who both come from GVA Williams, will have similar responsibilities to the ones they had at their previous positions, which were focused on leading retail initiatives there. The spokeswoman adds that this is a great addition for Grubb & Ellis because "we can expand our retail presence and add some multi-location national big box clients."

In a prepared statement, Breslin says that he is excited about the move. "I am thrilled to join a firm that knows that, one that will allow me to continue to grow and leverage my relationships around the world to create unique opportunities for my clients and the firm." During his career, Breslin has leased more than five million sf of retail space valued in excess of $2 billion. He has a background in both the national and international markets, with a specialty in assisting companies to meet their tailored sales objectives, according to a prepared statement.

As president of GVA Williams retail group, Breslin directed the firm's global retail practice for six years. Earlier, he spent six years at CB Richard Ellis as senior managing director where he carried out the expansion of AT&T's retail portfolio, to 266 locations from 40. Breslin has consulted on numerous retail sales dispositions and developments. He represented Barneys New York in the $180 million disposition of its portfolio in New York, Chicago and Beverly Hills. He also represented Barnes & Noble in the retailer's development of a 14-acre development site in Bridgehampton, NY.

"Despite the gloomy outlook by most pundits on the economy, we are bullish about our future, New York City's future and the prospects for the retail market," says David Arena, president of Grubb & Ellis New York, in a prepared statement. "We are committed to attracting the best and the brightest in the real estate community." Connelly specializes in business development, market due diligence and site selection while Yip's focus is financial analysis.
