The land was listed for around $718,000, but RexCon would not disclose the actual sale price, according to Thomas M. Boyle, president of Northfield, IL-based Boyle Commercial Realty LLC, who represented the company.
"For this project, we looked in southeast Wisconsin, southwest Wisconsin and northern Illinois," Boyle tells GlobeSt.com. "We found a unique site here in an area ideal for RexCon's vendors, their customers and their labor force."
The company opted to move from where they were formerly located just north of Milwaukee based on their needs for building space and design. Their new building will be built-to-suit, Boyle says.
"They were in an older facility, and the layout was not conducive to their very complex manufacturing flow," Boyle says. "They make very large and cumbersome equipment, and you need a lot of wingspan and clear height to efficiently manufacture it." RexCon purchased the property and began construction in May 2008. The building is expected to be completed in the coming months.
Milwaukee-based RexCon's land is located in the 130-acre Burlington Manufacturing and Office Park. The city of Burlington is developing the park. Development began in 1997, and 29 acres in several sites remains open for construction.
