The 30,000-sf project on the first floor created new offices, a training center and several conference rooms, as well as mechanical and electrical upgrades. "As part of the build-out we put in a video-conference center," Bill Olson, a senior project manager at Wise Construction, tells GlobeSt.com. "So they don't have to travel as much. They can video with their [other office] in Barcelona and manufacturing in Windsor" or Montego Bay, Jamaica. Barcelona is VistaPrint's European Marketing office.
The original fit-out from a shell building was roughly 210,000-sf, running about $10 million. The final 30,000-sf build-out started in May of 2008 and finished in October at a cost of $1.8 million. The property is altered from a multi-tenant facility to a single-tenant, citing company growth as the reason for expansion. VistaPrint did a phased move-in. The first phase took place in August and the second phase happened in October, as the build-out delivered.
"When VistaPrint first moved into the space at 95 Hayden Ave., we had plans to build-out the first floor, similar to the other three floors in the building," a VistaPrint spokesman explains to GlobeSt.com. "Essentially we executed on an existing plan and are very pleased with how the project was completed."
