In September, Wayne Mascia agreed to be acquired by Kidder Mathews, the Seattle-based GVA affiliate that entered the San Francisco market in 2006 by acquiring Whitney Cressman. The merger, slated to become effective at the end of the year, will nearly double Kidder Mathews' presence in the Bay Area and shift Wayne Mascia's alliance to GVA from TCN Worldwide.

Lori Sweeney has been in the real estate industry since 1993. She has been an SVP with Wayne Mascia for the past 10 years. Tom Sweeney spent the past 18 years with Wayne Mascia, also as an SVP.

[IMGCAP(2)]Wayne Mascia tells GlobeSt.com that the Sweeneys had been talking with C&C since before the merger with Kidder Mathews was announced because they like C&C's company's client solutions platform. "They felt their clients would be needing things that we didn't have at the time but will now because of the merger," Mascia says. "They were already far along in their conversation with C&C (by the time the merger was announced)."

Tom Sweeney tells GlobeSt.com it was a tough decision to move because he has great respect for Wayne Mascia and has been there a long time. "Wayne provided a great place for us to work and we left behind lots of great friends and co-workers," he says. "Both Lori and I felt going into '09 that we needed to align ourselves with the most recognized firm in the Valley, which is C&C. Our clients are demanding more and more services and it made a lot of sense for us to make the change."

Like Kidder Mathews, C&C also has been expanding over the past year. In November 2007 the company opened its 10th office, in Hayward, CA. In May it announced the appointment of Erik Doyle as the firm's President. In September, it opened its 11th office, at Jack London Square in Oakland, CA.

In addition to Lori and Tom Sweeny, three other new brokers have also joined the firm in October. Derek Yep, also from Wayne Mascia, is now a C&C senior sales associate. Mary Blazer, formerly with RREEF, has joined C&C as a senior sales associate.
