DAVENPORT, FL-Addison, TX-based Mattress Giant has signed a lease for 83,864 square feet of industrial space with Duke Realty Corp. at its Park 27 Distribution Center II, near the interchange of Interstate 4 and US 27 in eastern Polk County. The new $5.4-million center will consolidate distribution to 123 retail locations throughout Florida.

The lease will bring the 396,740-square-foot distribution center to 92% occupancy, says Doug Irmscher, senior vice president of Duke Realty's Orlando office. Park 27 can ultimately support 1.2 million square feet of bulk distribution space, he says.

Dan Younkman, executive vice president of sales with Mattress Giant, says the new facility will bring 26 new jobs to the area and generate an estimated $750,000 in yearly wages and benefits. "Being able to leverage Polk County's geographic location to better meet the needs of our customers, while making a positive impact on the local economy, makes this a win-win for us all," Younkman stated in a release.

Mattress Giant was represented in lease negotiations by Jeff York of York Property Co. and Reggie Beavan of Dallas-based Jackson & Cooksey. Kyle Armentrout, senior leasing representative with Duke Realty, represented Park 27.
