The building, known as Exchange Place, is in the heart of the Financial District here, with 40 floors and over one million square feet of space. Currently, the building is 6,300 square feet from being completely leased. The company did not disclose the terms and length of the lease, but Cushman & Wakefield's research shows comparable space going for $62.25 per square foot, on average.

This lease is counterintuitive to recent leases and renewals in the Boston office and lab markets, which have continued to churn out leases in suburban submarkets, in spite of a rough economy. Recently, Acosta Inc. renewed its 88,750-square-foot lease in Marlborough, MA; while Makoto Life Sciences is expanding and moving out of Cambridge. South Boston, also took a plethora of medium-sized leases recently, as well.
